June, 2026 NEWSLETTER: Farmstand Map Launch, Dry Farming Report
Greetings! It’s full summer and now here’s the GIFC June 2026 Food Co-op Newsletter. There may still be a Co-op summer job opportunity for you if you respond quickly, and paradoxically there’s an upcoming Galiano education series about planning ahead for your Winter Gardening too. But a key summer event is the launch of the first Mayne Island Farmstand Map, for you to buy wonderful island food right now! Meanwhile Mayne is also hosting a “Beyond the Abbattoir” workshop, using fallow deer for an educational demonstration of the process from whole animal to finished meat product. And a new report on Dry Farming and handling drought conditions (including on islands) has just been released. Lots to learn :-)
