Welcome to the non-profit GULF ISLANDS FOOD CO-OP of B.C., Canada!
We focus on the unique FOOD PRODUCERS of the Southern Gulf Islands of Pender, Mayne, Saturna and Galiano – within the traditional territories of the Coast Salish First Nations. A dynamic inter-island process that started in 2017 has led to three collaborative initiatives:
1. Gulf Islands FOOD CO-OP SERVICES (here): inter-island cooperation to create new resources and practical supports, for our amazing Southern Gulf Islands food producers, valued eaters, and local food resilience!
This includes honouring Indigenous peoples, foods and plants, and also following up on key priorities from Southern Gulf Islands Food & Agriculture Planning.
2. Gulf Islands FOOD REGISTRY: promoting food producers of all sizes and types, and island food groups
3. Food Co-op EDUCATION: for workshops, educational videos, and references, to support local food resilience in the beautiful Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia.
