Welcome to the Gulf Islands FOOD CO-OP initiative of BC, Canada!
We focus on the unique and wonderful FOOD PRODUCERS originating from the Southern Gulf Islands of Pender, Mayne, Saturna and Galiano – within the traditional territories of the Coast Salish First Nations. Initially hosted by the Heartwood Folk School, islanders are working together on three collaborative projects:
1. GULF ISLANDS FOOD CO-OP proposal: to provide key practical supports for Southern Gulf Islands (SGI) Food Producers, their uniquely healthy food, and thriving island sustainability! (plus SGI Agriculture Strategy follow-up)
2. Gulf Islands FOOD REGISTRY: listing food producers of all sizes and types, supporters/eaters, food groups, plus co-operating organizations (REGISTER to hear more about the Co-op, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org)
