Sept, 2025 NEWSLETTER, Oct Seed Cleaning Tour, Apple Festival & more
Here’s the latest September, 2025 Gulf Islands Food Co-op Newsletter
First for upcoming activities supported by the Gulf Islands Food Co-op (GIFC), we are so grateful to FarmFolkCityFolk for bringing their mobile seed cleaning trailer to Galiano (Oct 3-4), Mayne (Oct 5), and Pender (Oct 6-7). Farmers and Gardeners: bring your bags of dried plants with seed heads, and all your questions about saving seeds! The Pender event includes an Oct 7 morning where Dan Jason of Salt Spring Seeds will share his expertise.
You can see the September Newsletter link above for seed info, and also our involvement with the Pender Island (S’Dayes) Oct 3-4 CRISP Festival – a celebration of live music, poetry, art, APPLES, and the stories that connect us. As one part of the festival, GIFC has organized a speakers panel on “Food, Land and Relationships”, with Adam Olsen, David Fierro, and Susheela Kundargi. Also we have Organic Gardener’s Pantry owner, Christina Cook, talking about sourcing and making organic fertilizers and microbial inoculants.
This will be rounded out with musical interludes, heritage apple displays, native edible plants, and a choice of three great tours: Heritage Apple Orchard, Pender Native Plants, or Pender’s new distillery BeeWild. You can see the above Newsletter for these food growing activities and more :-)
