March 30 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm

On Saturday, March 30, all interested folks are invited to Saturna Island, firstly for a 10:30 am INDIGENOUS FOODS COOKING CLASS (to make bannock plus soap berry “ice cream”).  Then starting at about 12:00 Noon, there will be a CIRCLE GATHERING & PRESENTATIONS, to hear 2 honoured Elders speak about Indigenous Food Practices, and to share food together.  This is at the Saturna Community Hall (105 East Point Road, a short walk from the ferry).

Our teachers will be Tsawout Elder Seliliye (Belinda Claxton), and also Lillian Underwood, who is Southern Tutchone from the Kluane First Nation (Yukon), and married to Tsawout Chief Harvey Underwood.  You can see Coast Salish W̱SÁNEĆ people for additional background.

COST:  Attendees will be invited to bring a FOOD DONATION for the Tsawout After-School Program, and/or to make a MONETARY DONATION to enable Tsawout Youth to attend summer camp.
