“8th Fire” Documentary Series – Pender Truth and Reconciliation Circle

April 4, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

“8th Fire” is a four-part CBC documentary.  This series challenges the stereotypical image of Indigenous people and emphasizes the importance of building a new relationship going forward.  It also explores how many of the issues of colonialism still impact all Canadians today.  See host Wab Kinew (photo here), and more info on the website below.

Pender Island Truth and Reconciliation Circle has arranged to show and discuss “8th Fire” at the Pender Anglican Parish Hall on the following dates, to which all are welcome:

Wednesday, February 7 (7:00 pm) – “Indigenous in the City”
Wednesday, March 7 (7:00 pm) – “It’s Time”
Wednesday, April 4 (7:00 pm) – “Whose Land is it Anyway?”
Wednesday, May 2 (7:00 pm) – “At the Crossroads”

We encourage everyone to attend these events even if you have seen the series before.  We can share our experiences and understanding with others who may be new to exploring these issues.

Volunteers are needed for set up, clear up, baking  and serving tea.  Please let me know if you are available and which of the nights will work for you. (All 4 is an option!) I will set up a roster to spread out the work.  Susan Parr, susanparr@shaw.ca
