Education 2023: Seed Cleaning & Learning Days
Following up on our 2022 seed saving supports, the Gulf Islands Food Co-op is happy to have organized three more hands-on seed cleaning and learning days coming up, including equipment to use from FarmFolk/CityFolk:
* October 14 at the Galiano Island South HallI (contact barrynew09@gmail.com); and
* October 15 and 16 at the North Pender Island Community Hall (see details below)
See this super VIDEO from previous Seed Cleaning Days. This is all with big thanks for project funding from CRD Grants-in-Aid.
Please bring your dried plants from which you plan to save seeds! The equipment is flexible to handle anything from large bean seeds to tiny lettuce seeds – just bring your bags of plants and the machines or sieves will help separate all the unwanted plant material from your precious seeds. Your seeds will store better if they are properly cleaned and dried.
